Beloved is a 1998 American horror-drama film[2] based on Toni Morrison's 1987 novel of the same name, directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Oprah WinfreyDanny Glover, and Thandie Newton. The plot centers on a former slave after the American Civil War, her haunting by a poltergeist, and the visitation of her reincarnated daughter whom she murdered out of desperation to save her from a slave owner. Despite being a box office bomb,[3] Beloved received an Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design for Colleen Atwood, and both Danny Glover and Kimberly Elisereceived praise for their performances.
Sethe is a former slave living on the outskirts of Cincinnati shortly after the Civil War. An angry poltergeist terrorizes Sethe and her three children, causing her two sons to run away forever. Eight years later, Sethe (Oprah Winfrey) lives alone with her daughter, Denver (Kimberly Elise). Paul D. (Danny Glover), an old friend from Sweet Home, the plantation Sethe had escaped from years earlier, finds Sethe's home, where he drives off the angry spirit. Afterwards, Paul D. proposes that he should stay and Sethe responds favorably. Shortly after Paul D. moves in, a clean, mentally handicapped young woman (Thandie Newton) named Beloved stumbles into Sethe's yard and also stays with them.
Denver is initially happy to have Beloved around, but learns that she is Sethe's reincarnated daughter. Nonetheless, she chooses not to divulge Beloved's origins to Sethe. One night, Beloved, aware that Paul D. dislikes her, immobilizes him with a spell and proceeds to assault him sexually. Paul D. resolves to tell Sethe what happened, but instead tells what has happened to a co-worker, Stamp Paid (Albert Hall). Stamp Paid, who has known Sethe for many years, pulls a newspaper clipping featuring Sethe and tells her story to the illiterate Paul D.
Years ago, Sethe was raped by the nephews of Schoolteacher, the owner of Sweet Home. She complained to Mrs. Garner, Schoolteacher's sister-in-law, who confronted him. In retaliation, Schoolteacher and his nephews whip Sethe. Heavily pregnant with her fourth child, Sethe planned to escape. Her other children were sent off earlier to live with Baby Suggs, Sethe's mother-in-law, but Sethe stayed behind to look for her husband, Halle (Hill Harper) Sethe was assaulted while searching for him in the barn. The Schoolteacher's nephews held her down, raped her and forcibly took her breast milk.
When Halle failed to comply, Sethe ran off alone. She crossed paths with Amy Denver, a white girl who treated Sethe's injuries and delivered Sethe's child, whom Sethe named Denver after Amy. Sethe eventually reached Baby Suggs' home, but her initial happiness was short-lived when Schoolteacher came to claim Sethe and her children. In desperation, Sethe slits her older daughter's throat, and attempts to kill her other children. Stamp Paid manages to stop her and the disgusted Schoolteacher departs.
Paul D., horrified by the revelation and suddenly understanding the origin of the poltergeist, confronts Sethe. Sethe justifies her decision without apology, claiming that her children would be better off dead than enslaved. Paul D. departs shortly thereafter in protest. After Paul D.'s departure, Sethe realizes that Beloved is the reincarnation of her dead daughter. Feeling elated yet guilty, Sethe spoils Beloved with elaborate gifts while neglecting Denver. Beloved soon throws a destructive tantrum and her malevolent presence causes living conditions in the house to deteriorate. The women live in squalor and Sethe is unable to work. Denver becomes depressed yet, inspired by a memory of her grandmother's confidence in her, she eventually musters the courage to leave the house and seek employment.
After Denver attains employment, women from the local church visit Sethe's house at the request of her new co-worker to perform an exorcism. The women from the church comfort the family, and they are praying and singing loudly when Denver's new employer arrives to pick her up for work. Sethe sees him and, reminded of Schoolteacher's arrival, tries to attack him with an icepick, but is subdued by Denver and the women. During the commotion, Beloved disappears completely and Sethe, freed from Beloved's grip, becomes permanently bedridden.
Some months later, Paul D. encounters Denver at the marketplace. He notices she has transformed into a confident and mature young woman. When Paul D. later arrives at Sethe's house, he finds her suffering from a deep malaise. He assures Sethe that he and Denver will now take care of her. Sethe tells him that she doesn't see the point, as Beloved, her "best thing", is gone. Paul D. disagrees, telling Sethe that she herself is her own best thing.

The Naked Eye (SpanishLa Mirada del Otro) is a 1998 Spanish film, written and directed by Vicente Aranda adapted from a novel by Fernando G. Delgado. It stars Laura Morante, Miguel Ángel García and José Coronado. The film is an erotic psychodrama, an exploration of female sexual desire. It premiered at the 48th Berlin International Film Festival in 1998 where it was nominated for the Golden Bear.[1]
Aranda objects to labelisation of his film as an "erotic film", instead he defines it as "psycho-erotic": "[The heroine,] Begoña's ambition is transparency. (...) She wants to enjoy life in its widest expression, and looks for clarity through sex.
Begoña is a thirty something consultant who has rebelled against her upper-middle-class background and has overdone it with sex ever since her youth. On recommendation of her psychoanalyst, she keeps a video diary of her encounters using a palm-sized video gadget called "The Owl".
On Christmas Eve, reluctantly, Begoña goes to have dinner with her dysfunctional family: her stern mother, her married brother and her younger sister. Soon, Begoña, the family’s black sheep, clashes with her relatives. She leaves abruptly in disharmony, only her sister seems sympathetic towards her. The same night in a bar, Begoña is befriended by Daniel, a solitary handsome man in his late teens. The attractive and self assure Begoña draws his attention, but when her on and off ex-boyfriend Elio, and adventurous biker, shows up at the bar, an argument ensures between Elio and Daniel.
The next morning Begoña wakes up in her bed with Daniel next to her. Drunk as she was, she does not remember what had happened. They had sex, he tells her, and it was wild. Young, rich and without any real occupation, Daniel stars to pursue Begoña relentlessly, but, although she is flattered, she ignores him. He is far from her only love interest. Besides Daniel and Elio, there is Ramón, Begoña’s coworker and sometimes lover. She is tired of him and rebuffs his advances coldly. Only, Ignacio, an older painter, seems to hold her interest. Old enough to be her father, Begoña has been Ignacio’s lover for many years. Although Daniel has followed her to Ignacio’s house, he is not deterred in his interest for Begoña.
When New Year ’s Day comes, Begoña goes to a party and gets reunited with her friends of younger days. The host is Santiago, Begoña‘s high School boyfriend. He is now married with twins and Begoña wonders how her life could have been that of a traditional wife and mother. At the party, there is also Marian, Begoña's friend, who is married to a much younger man, but is having trouble getting pregnant. On her request, Begoña helps Marian to collect from her husband the sperm she needs for an artificial insemination.
Begoña's spirit of adventure make her accepts the challenge of Elio, her friend and sometimes lover, to go into a rough section of Madrid pretending to be a prostitute. However, once there she is brutally raped by the local pimp, a beefy tall man in drag. After that terrible experience Begoña looks for a more respectable life. Once again causing a commotion with her family, Begoña marries Daniel and have a child with him. Nevertheless, unsatisfied, one day, she decides to return to the seedy neighborhood where she was raped, looking for more.

Different Strokes (also titled Different Strokes: The Story of Jack and Jill...and Jill) is a 1997 erotic drama film about a love triangle involving a young couple and another woman. Written and directed by Michael Paul Girard, the film stars Dana Plato, Landon Hall, and Bentley Mitchum.[1] The film's title exploits Plato's fame from the TV series, Diff'rent Strokes. It was Plato's first film appearance since 1992, and would be her second to last film before her death in 1999.
Nathan Rabin gave the film a harsh review, stating "The shamelessly titled Different Strokes (...) lacks anything resembling even community-theater-level acting", concluding the film "is notable mainly for its aggressive lack of shame. From its title to its threadbare plot to its community-access-level production values, the film reeks of crass exploitation.

A Los Angeles fashion model falls in love with a female art director during a photo shoot which puts their newfound romance at odds with the model's photographer boyfriend.

The Jungle Book: Mowgli's Story is a 1998 live-action direct-to-video film directed by Nick Marck, produced by Mark H. Orvitz and written by José Rivera and Jim Herzfeld. Based on Rudyard Kipling's book of the same name, the film is the second remake of Walt Disney's 1967 animated film.
It stars Brandon Baker, and features the voices of Brian Doyle-MurrayEartha KittClancy BrownPeri Gilpin, and Sherman Howard.
The film chronicles the life of a boy named Mowgli (Baker) from the time he lived with humans as an infant to the time when he was raised by wild animals and rediscovered humans again as a teenager.
It was distributed by Walt Disney Pictures on September 29, 1998.
In the jungle of India, a group of villagers are sightseeing. Later that night, Shere Khan the tiger (Sherman Howard), and his sidekick Tabaqui the hyena (Stephen Tobolowsky) attack the villagers. A young boy named Mowgli(Brandon Baker) runs off in search of his parents, only to get lost. He is eventually taken into a wolf pack by wolf parents, Akela (Clancy Brown) and Raksha (Peri Gilpin).
Mowgli makes friends with Baloo the bear (Brian Doyle-Murray), Bagheerathe panther (Eartha Kitt), Chil the vulture, and Hathi the elephant. One day, Hathi takes Mowgli for a ride on his back in order to give him a tour of the jungle. Mowgli learns that man poses a danger to the jungle and the animals after seeing part of the jungle destroyed by fire.
During a pack meeting, Mowgli and his wolf sister, Little Raksha (Ashley Peldon) (both of whom are now older) are chosen to become hunters for the pack, much to the dismay of the wolf bullies. Shere Khan (now wanting revenge after being shot by a human) confronts the wolf pack and demands they hand over Mowgli. Raksha and Akela refuse, saying that Mowgli is their son. Bagheera and Baloo arrive and swear to protect Mowgli from Shere Khan. Shere Khan then assures Mowgli that one day, he will get his revenge, when the pack, Bagheera, or Baloo won't be able to protect him.
Bagheera and Baloo attempt to teach Mowgli how to hunt, only resulting in failed attempts from Mowgli. Bagheera then makes Mowgli look into her eyes, a trick Shere Khan uses on his victims, believing it will prepare Mowgli, should he ever encounter Shere Khan alone. Mowgli learns the lesson and returns to the pack.
One night, the wolf bullies team up with Shere Khan to drive Mowgli out of the pack, all believing that man does not belong in a wolf pack. During a hunt, Akela assigns groups for the hunt. Mowgli is teamed with the wolf bullies. They cause him to ruin the hunt, making the pack go hungry. Upset, Mowgli decides to run away from the pack.
The next day, Mowgli runs off with some chimpanzees to Monkey Town, for they claim a "surprise party". Unbeknown to Mowgli, the chimps have set up a plan with Shere Khan. They trap him in a wooden house, thus making him vulnerable for Shere Khan. Chil flies off to tell Raksha. Raksha races to Monkey Town to rescue Mowgli.
The chimps assure Shere Khan that Mowgli is trapped. Shere Khan proceeds to Monkey Town to kill Mowgli. At Monkey Town, Shere Khan is confronted by Raksha. Shere Khan attacks Raksha and kills her. Bagheera and Baloo rescue Mowgli and take him away from Monkey Town.
The next day, Hathi informs Mowgli that an incident has occurred involving Raksha. Hathi takes Mowgli back to the pack, where Raksha's lifeless corpse is laid out. Akela, Little Raksha and Mowgli mourn Raksha's death. Blaming himself, Mowgli tries to run away from the jungle. Little Raksha runs off to try and stop Mowgli.
Mowgli stumbles upon a village, seeing his own kind. Mowgli then hears Little Raksha's cries for help and returns to the jungle to aid her. He frees her from a bear trap. Little Raksha then reminds Mowgli that he took the "Hunter's Oath" and shouldn't run away. Mowgli realises that he must face Shere Khan. He decides not to face Shere Khan as a wolf, but as a man.
That night, Shere Khan falls for Mowgli's trap, a large circle made from vines. With Shere Khan in the circle, Mowgli sets the vines on fire using a match he found at the wooden house back at Monkey Town, trapping Shere Khan by surrounding him with flames. Mowgli then banishes Shere Khan from the jungle as Bagheera, Baloo, Little Raksha and the wolf bullies look on. Shere Khan swears never to return to the jungle, so Mowgli allows him to leave. Mowgli is praised by everyone, including the wolf bullies, who admit that they were wrong about him. The role of leader of the pack is offered to Mowgli, but he turns it down and gives it to Little Raksha.
The next day, Bagheera and Baloo give Mowgli a book featuring jungle animals. He thanks them and then runs off.
